This course can help you further your intentions in life.  It is a blend of the well researched Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Cognitive Therapy Course that is taught worldwide for stress management. This course teaches ways in which you can come back to the present moment again and again. By tuning into yourself – body and mind – and your surroundings you can learn to gently be with your experience here and now. Through gentle persistence in practicing mindfulness over the 8 weeks it offers improved wellbeing, mental freedom, self-compassion, resilience, interconnectedness and greater clarity and calm.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the skill of being more awake in our daily life and work, by giving our full, open-hearted attention to what is immediately occurring, physically and mentally, within and around us.

What can Mindfulness do for you?

Mindfulness can add immense value to your life in many ways:

increasing self-awareness so it is easier to recognise stress

increasing self-compassion fostering a kinder way to be with yourself

cultivating skillful responding to situations, rather than with automatic reactivity

Who would benefit?

Those people new to mindfulness and those who wish to deepen their existing experience of the approach. This course is focused on developing personal experience and practice of mindfulness with the benefits being realised in your life. Also participating in this course is a prerequisite for teacher training in mindfulness, should you wish to do this at a later stage.

Course Essentials

This course is fully experiential and aims to cultivate the skills of mindfulness and how to integrate them into your life and work.

You will become familiar with various practices (body scan, sitting, walking, mindful movement) and explore your experiences in a supportive environment during the sessions and in essential home practice.

Facilitator - Dr. Kirsty Freeman

Dr Kirsty Freeman is a registered Clinical Psychologist with a clinical and teaching background. Mindfulness practice is at the heart of her work and life. She has worked with mindfulness- based approaches since 2005 and conducted research and published in this area. She is fully trained and experienced in running mindfulness- based courses and established MindfulnessNZ in 2009.
