Louise’s yoga journey began when she realised that it was something her body really needed as a dancer.
Unfortunately her first yoga class was not a great experience, the teacher told her that yoga and ballet did not mix, therefore she would have to choose between the two! Needless to say she never returned to her class.
As her search continued she discovered BodyBalance, the Les Mills group fitness class, a mix of yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates, which she absolutely loved. Her body felt amazing, strong and flexible, just what she’d been searching for. It was from this that Louise became more interested in the yoga side of this class and started to attend yoga classes. Louise soon realised that not only was this practice good for her body but also noticed how relaxed and calm she felt floating out of the studio when it was over. She continued her practice over the years and when leaving the UK, arriving in Queenstown, was pleased to find there was an abundance of classes over here!
Being a personal trainer for many years Louise went on to train as a BodyBalance instructor to further her knowledge but soon this just wasn’t enough and she felt the need to know more! Luckily she heard about a teacher training that was to be happening right here in Queenstown with the world-renowned Hatha yoga teacher, Lance Schuler. After doing some research, Louise signed straight up. Her training continued this year with Nianna Bray in Vinyasa flow.
Louise says “Teacher training was one of the best things to have happened to me. It was a roller coaster of a ride, emotionally & physically, I learnt so much about my body and myself, however that learning never stops we continually learn trough our practice. I’ve made friends for life on this journey and it has brought me to where I am today. I am always inspired by all of my fellow teachers. I love teaching, love meeting the people that attend classes from all different walks of life, love connecting with people and most of all love seeing the changes people discover for themselves as they practice this funny thing called yoga!”
