Sandy Lynds

Born in Switzerland, Sandy’s family moved to the South Island when she was 9 years old. Sandy was first introduced to yoga by her dad when she was 15 and has been hooked ever since.

Yoga has been her constant and yet beautifully adaptable companion in all the stages of her life so far.  Sandy has been teaching yoga since 2007 and in 2011 she took the jump from practicing corporate law to completing a Yoga Teacher Certificate 4 (Yoga Alliance accredited 500 Hours) in Byron Bay, Australia with John Ogilvie.

The “Purna Yoga” style taught by John perfectly fused her passion for the strong dynamic Ashtanga  Vinyasa practice with the alignment focused Iyengar approach as well as incorporating all the other 8 limbs of yoga into her practice, teaching and daily life.

During her time in Australia Sandy was also inspired by Ana Davis (founder of Bliss Baby Yoga Sydney) whose gentle feminine approach brought a whole new aspect into her yogic practice.   She completed Ana’s prenatal training in 2012 while she was pregnant with her son.

As well as general alignment focused dynamic Hatha classes, Sandy also teaches prenatal yoga.  She loves the balance of strength and gentle nurturing these classes offer.  “It’s a beautiful way to connect with your unborn baby, to nourish yourself and discover the warrior inside who can do anything!”

In 2014 Sandy discovered Yin Yoga, which has enriched her practice and teaching even more.  “Yin Yoga has given me a deeper understanding of my mind and body and taught me the value in truly slowing down and listening to what is going on within.”

Her classes are focused on dedicating time to yourself, to explore, to listen, to respond, to accept and let go.
